Church News
The 2007 Annual Conference of the Church of the Brethren will be held June 30 -
July 4, 2007 in Cleveland, Ohio!
Anual Conference is the ultimate human authority in the Church of the Brethren - we are a true democracy!
But it is like a huge family reunion. Each congregation sends delegates to Conference, based on their size. Most of the delegates
are lay persons, and their vote is final in all matters of polity and policy.
In 2008, the Annual Conference will be held in Richmond, Virginia in conjunction with the Brethren Church,
another denomination from the same original Brethren roots. Although we divided in 1881, we will meet together to celebrate
the 300th Anniversary of the Brethren. Despite our division in the past, today we are good friends and cooperate in a number
of foreign mission programs and other endeavors. This wil make Richmond an even bigger (and happier!) family reunion.
